Burrito Bash for Habitat for Humanity |
|
Join us for an evening of music and fellowship while contributing to Chatham County?s affordable housing. On Monday, May 7th, CHFH will have a Burrito Bash and Silent Auction fundraiser sponsored by the General Store Cafe in Pittsboro. All proceeds will help CHFH build affordable housing for Chatham County residents.
With a donation to Chatham Habitat for Humanity you will feast on the General Store Cafe's burrito dinner with chips and salsa and enjoy an evening of great music
Chatham Habitat for Humanity (CHFH), an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, has been an active part of Chatham County since 1989 when volunteers in the community noticed the growing need for decent, safe, affordable housing. To date we have completed fifty-three houses with a goal of completing fifteen this year.
Families are approved for a Habitat home based on their need, their ability to commit to a mortgage, and their willingness to contribute at least 350 hours of labor or ?sweat equity.?
Over 100 Chatham County residents have benefited from moving into a safe, decent Habitat home. Many children in these homes previously lived in housing with rotting floors and ceilings, inadequate or nonexistent indoor plumbing, no heat and faulty wiring. Some families have previously lived in neighborhoods of violence and drug activity. The solution to poverty housing is through the empowerment of individuals, families and communities. Help us to end such living conditions in Chatham County.
Mission Statement: Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with God and people everywhere, from all walks of life, to develop communities with people in need by building and renovating houses, so that there are decent houses in decent communities in which every person can experience God?s love and can live and grow into all that God intends.

BURRITO BASH OCT. 2nd TO BENEFIT
CARNIVORE PRESERVATION TRUST
Calling all animal lovers! Carnivore Preservation Trust (CPT) announced today that they are preparing for their first Burrito Bash on October 2nd in partnership with the General Store Café in Pittsboro. Tickets will be sold at the door that evening. Tickets will be $15 and entitle the bearer to one of General Store Café’s famous (and huge!) burritos with chips and salsa. William Burton (the Music Man) will be providing music for the evening. William has toured with Muddy Waters, opened for Stephen Stills, and played for Cat Stevens at his birthday party. He describes his music as “neo-indigo jazz and blues”. William’s concern about global warming made him a natural fit for this benefit for CPT.
During the event, CPT will also be holding a silent auction, with over 50 great items to choose from. The auction will include jewelry, gift certificates, pottery, baskets, a week at the beach, and more. All proceeds from the Burrito Bash will go to CPT to help care for the cats. CPT greatly appreciates the support of the General Store Café. Please thank them personally as well when you visit them next.
CPT is a wildlife sanctuary, offering unique opportunities to learn about these animals and their importance to the quality of our life on Earth. The 55 acre sanctuary located just east of Pittsboro, N.C., is home to 80 animals of 8 different species, including tigers, leopards, ocelots, binturongs and more.
CPT offers guided walking tours by reservation only on weekends, most holidays, and selected other dates, as well as Twilight Tours for adults only (13+) every Saturday night in season and birthday parties for kids (6 – 12). For tour times and information, visit www.cptigers.org or call 919-542-4684.
