Music This Week:

Thursday, September 2 8:00-10:00 PM
Jazz with the Bernie Petteway Trio

You'll hear the Bernie Petteway Trio play jazz standards, for sure, but don't be surprised if you hear tunes from the songbooks of Pat Metheny, Patsy Cline, Charlie Haden, or even the BeeGees. If Bernie is feeling particularly feisty, you may even hear a Wes Montgomery tune segue into a blazing Jimi Hendrix number. This incredibly talented trio includes:

Bernie Petteway - guitar. Bernie shares his many guitar playing talents with musicians and groups as diverse as the North Carolina Symphony, the contra dance group Contrazz, numerous national and local theater productions, and the eclectic acoustic stringband Stringfellows. Bernie was also one of the founding members of the legendary jazz-fusion group 3PM which EER-MUSIC.com's tribute page calls "one of the most unknown and underrated jazz rock fusion bands to have ever existed".

Ed Butler - drums. Ed is a multi-talented drummer and percussionist who has played with the likes of the Red Clay Ramblers, Michelle Shocked, Stringfellows (where he not only plays percussion, but guitar, and mandolin) and with the Thelonious Society/OOTO. Ed also composes for Jelly Theater, Playmakers Theater and has played for numerous national and local theater productions. Once again, this year Ed will join Bernie in the orchestra pit for Ira David Wood's production of "A Christmas Carol".

Robbie Link - double bass. Robbie is a performer and teacher on the double bass, electric bass, viola da gamba, and cello. Link free-lances and records with many jazz, chamber music, and folk ensembles, and enjoys performing everything from Baroque to Bluegrass. He also teaches privately and for the Duke University String School. You can contact him at redhawkmusic@mindspring.com

Friday, September 3 8:30-10:30 pm
ARMOND & BLUESOLOGY - PLAYING THE BLUES!

Armand Lenchek (lead guitarist, singer and songwriter for Armand & Bluesology (New Moon Music recording artists). From festivals in Europe and in the United States to clubs up and down the East Coast and the Midwest, Armand Lenchek has cut his teeth playing blues and R&B backing artists like Skeeter Brandon, Walter "Lightnin' Bug" Rhodes, Nappy Brown and Bo Diddley.

"Armand Lenchek plays with a fluidity and grace seldom heard. Here is a guitarist in complete control if his instrument." Music Monthly.

Look for Armand's shows to be full of plenty of his own hot-rockin' blues" "Guitar work that will make your speakers rattle and your feet move." Blues Review

"Armand Lenchek...an excellent guitarist well schooled in the electric blues tradition."
