A creed

There is a destiny that makes us brothers;
None goes his way alone:
All that we send into the lives of others
Comes back into our own.

I care not what his temples or his creeds,
One thing holds firm and fast-
That into his fateful heap of days and deeds
The soul of man is cast

We celebrate the three week anniversary of our new hours!

This week we celebrate the three week anniversary of our new store hours. We are open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 7:30am to 8:00pm, Thursday and Friday from 7:30am to 10:30pm, and on Saturday from 9:00am to 10:30pm, though on Sundays we are still closed so that we can rest (at least for now - but let us know if you would want to see Sunday hours as well).

MUSIC THIS WEEK!

Thursday, January 23 - The Russell Lacy Quintet featuring Scott Sawyer, Mark Wells, Matt Brandeau and Mahlon Hoard (Jazz)

Another Thursday at the Store once again brings a fresh dose of world-renowned jazz!

Friday, January 24 - Bill and Libby Hicks (Folk, Swing, Blues)

Combining their passion for traditional music with their love for each other, Bill and Libby Hicks might be the best husband/wife duo in the entire genre. Bill's nimble fiddling perfectly complements his wife's guitar strums, and their voices meld to create haunting harmonies.

"Bill and Libby have been playing traditional music (old-time, swing, blues) and original songs around North Carolina and the rest of the country since 1982.

They are residents of Chatham Co. and Ocracoke. Their CD, "South of Nowhere" is frequently featured on Back Porch Music, as is Bill's new solo effort, "the
Perfect Gig." Bill is also a co-founder of the Red Clay Ramblers.

Saturday, January 25 - Reagan Cole (Blues "picker-singer")

Reagan Cole is a pickersinger,as opposed to the more common
singer/songwriter.Critics have attempted to categorize him in the
usual ways : "the original subliminal kid meets George Jones
and the Voidoids", that sort of thing.

Mostly it's way off target. Says Cole:"I've been trying to learn these songs for an awfully long time, and I just can't quit now. Mostly, I draw on the deep well formally known as folk music. I just like a good song, a good story and beyond that, it doesn't matter much.."
