Love me little, love me long

Love me little, love me long,
Is the burden of my song:
Love that is too hot and strong
Burneth soon to waste.

I am with little well content,
And a little from thee sent
Is enough, with true intent,
To be steadfast friend.

Love me little, love me long,
Is the burden of my song.

No More Winter?

Congratulations to the McGough's on their new addition!

On Sunday, February 2, Richard and Beckett McGough welcomed their new son, Spencer, weighing in just over 8 lbs, into this world. The McGough's are the former owners of the General Store Café, having owned the store from 1999 to April of 2002.

Under their stewardship, the McGough's changed the focus of the then natural foods grocery store to be more of a café hence changing the store name to the General Store Café, and introducing the spectacular music performances that occur Thursday through Saturday. The General Store Café wishes the McGough's congratulations and some restful nights!

MUSIC THIS WEEK!

Thursday, February 6th - Mahlon Hoard Jazz Series (Jazz)

Organ Phonics featuring Ray Codgrington on Trumpet, Mark Wells on Organ, Kevin Van Sant on Guitar, Dan Davis on Drums and Mahlon Hoard on Sax.

Friday, February 7th - NC Songwriters (eclectic folk)

Acoustic Eclectic Tour - Songs for an eclectic age! Sounds different and can't define it?

With Keith Howard, John Klinger, Marilyn Gates, Anthony Neff and Jess Pillmore (part time). A little about Keith - one of the things he loved about the guitar was to learn it without classes, without knowing theory, and not even knowing what the string names were for a long time. He wanted to find something that was not tried before and feels he has achieved that somewhat. The music he plays has been handed down to him.

Anthony Neff, began writing songs and performing in the area in 1999. Introspective lyrics, folk/country melodies, and big pop hooks reveal this Raleigh-based songwriter's diverse range of influences - from Townes van Zandt and Bob Dylan, to John Lennon and Ray Davies.

Saturday, February 8th - Cutting Up Gumby (blues/folk/jazz)

Cutting Up Gumby with Steve Fishman on guitar and lead vocals and Fred LeVine on banjo, mandolin, and vocals. They delight audiences with a fresh musical concept that blends jazz standards, blues, jug music, old-time string music, and folk into a delightful musical soup that generates lots of smiles. You’ve never heard tunes played quite like this!
