Specialty Gift Items for Sale - Our Featured Artists: Shannon Bueker and Ingrid Ottenbring Shannon Bueker's Cards
Artist's Statement: I have drawn since my beginning, in books, on my shoes, and now on most any surface. Years ago, a Chinese painting class introduced me to the long strokes of Asian brushes and the varied beauties of ink on paper. I paint and draw animals and people and things on the move. Gesture is the backbone of my approach. I am fascinated by gesture and am challenged to see how much shape and power I can express with the simplest of lines. I look for what is essential or of the essence. Watercolor and ink, or fluid acrylics and charcoal are my tools of choice. I work on canvas, board and paper in all sizes, large to small. Introducing Ingrid Ottenbring's handmade children's clothing
Ingrid Ottenbring, a registered nurse practitioner and midwife has been knitting since she was a teenager - making clothes for herself and for her family. By age 22, she was selling her clothes on consignment at local shops, earning enough money to buy herself and her family vacation trips around Northern Europe. Her darling knits are creative, playful and very unique. She sells children's hats in the form of strawberries, blueberries, pumpkins and carrots with matching socks and sweaters. Ingrid takes custom orders, so if you find a unique item that you would like in a different size or color - please email info@thegeneralstorecafe.com . Even though next fall is still 6 months away - it could be a good idea to get any special orders in early if you don't find the item you are looking for in the store's selection. |

Get a Great Organic Cup of Joe at the General Store Café!
Please join our excitement and try our General Store House Blend, which is a morning blend of shade grown Central American coffees of Columbia Supremo and French Roast. Because the coffee is grown in the shade, the beans mature more slowly therefore producing a more robust flavor. The Columbia Supremo is mild, sweet, and eminently balanced, and the French Roast addition when it is skillfully roasted, attains a bittersweet chocolate nature. Our General Store House blend is a smooth, medium bodied cup with a touch of French Roast for a hint of dark chocolate with a gentle smoky finish. Not only do shaded plantations produce outstanding coffees; they also preserve a habitat for millions of migratory songbirds!
The General Store Café sells this high quality coffee for $9.95 and $10.95 a bag. Don't miss the special available this week only on chocolate flavored lattes! Get ½ off on any coffee drink that uses our white chocolate syrup! Choose from White Chocolate latte White Mint Chocolate, white chocolate raspberry, or frosted peppermint patty latte! We carry Monin Syrups which are made from naturally extracted fruit and spice flavors and pure cane sugar. They are alcohol free, fat free, and preservative and additive free. Our flavors are Vanilla, Ammareto, Raspberry, Irish Cream, Frosted Mint, and Hazelnut. We also carry Ghiradelli Chocolate (white and dark) which is also used in our mocha and hot chocolate drinks. Counter Culture has shaped our staff into expert baristas so we are prepared to make you the very best coffee drink! |

MUSIC THIS WEEK! Thursday, February 13th - The Mahlon Hoard Quartet (Jazz) Featuring Rick Lassiter, Kevin VanSant, and John Wilson . Friday, February 14 - Sean Smith, (Singer/Songwriter from Chattanooga, Tennessee) With his skillful artistry and musical style, Sean Smith has captivated the ears and minds of audiences across America. He has subsequently shared the stage with folk sensations such as Leo Kottke, Jack Williams, Lucy Kaplansky, and Don Conoscenti. Sean's musical career stems from his love of writing and acoustic folk music. His talent as an acoustic folk poet is demonstrated in the variety and depth of his original songs. From the quaint, progressive tale of "Brownsferry" to the soul-searching tones and honesty of "The Way of This Place", Sean explores the depth of emotion and the human condition.
