New Friends and Old Friends

Make new friends, but keep the old;
Those are silver, these are gold.
New-made friendships, like new wine,
Age will mellow and refine.

Friendships that have stood the test-
Time and change – are surely best;
Brow may wrinkle, hair may gray,
Friendship never knows decay.

For ‘mid old friends, tried and true,
Once more we our youth renew.
But old friends, alas! May die,
New friends must their place supply.

Cherish friendship in your breast –
New is good, but old is best;
Make new friends, but keep the old;
Those are silver, these are gold.

New: General Store Sign Designed by Tamara Mulinix!!!

Faced with the urgent need to put up a sign that could clearly distinguish the General Store Café from the road, a banner was quickly ordered. Less than a week after the banner was hung, the wind tore it down, and the General Store Café once again remained signless. Now after a little over a month, our sign is back in business thanks to metalsmith artist, Tamara Mulinix! Tamara Mulinix, a featured artist at the General Store Café this past November, metal sculpted our logo, which is a coffee cup with a red pepper on top, that effectively secures our banner to the building. Come wind, hail, or snow, our sign is hopefully here to stay! Thank you Tamara!

MUSIC THIS WEEK!

Jazz featuring Beverly Botsford on Percussiion, Robbie Link on Bass, Scott Sawyer on Guitar and Mahlon Hoard on Sax.

Friday, March 14- Tommy Edwards and Friends (Blue Grass, swing and blues)

Tommy Edwards and his good friends Keith Thomas and Alice Zincone enjoy lots of different kinds of music. Their repertoire features selections from several musical styles including folk, country, bluegrass, swing and blues. Talented soloists and harmony singers, they are also extremely proficient instrumentalists.

Keith is an award-winning guitarist and fiddler who is also a fine mandolinist. Tommy Edwards was twice named World Champion Bluegrass Guitarist, and Alice has played bass with several regional bands.

Since deciding to perform together, Tommy, Keith, and Alice have worked to accomplish three main goals. The first is to select material that is both meaningful and entertaining. The second is to make optimum use of their voices, either solo or in combination, so as to share the joy that they have in performing the music for their audiences.

So whatever your musical taste, if you like great harmony singing with well played acoustic string instrument accompanient (with a bit of humor mixed in) you'll enjoy a performance by Tommy Edwards and Friends.
